Go beyond the Document
Requirements management is more than just the creation and management of a document.

If only it were that simple. What happens when you throw complexity at a project and your requirements change, or the team is virtual? That's when a good requirements management tool earns its value. We believe in order to do requirements management well, a tool must help you Capture, Connect, Control and Collaborate.

Rich Web-based User Interface. The power of an enterprise desktop application meets the simplicity and convenience of the Web. You can access Contour from a web browser anytime, anywhere simply using Internet Explorer or Firefox. The process flow diagram below was created using Autodesk Draw and dynamically linked and displayed within Contour.

Requirements Traceability. We've made it easy to create traceability relationships between requirements, use cases, test cases and other items. You can choose to see traceability relationships in a table layout or as a visual layout view as shown here.

Software Requirements

Cross-Project Traceability Relationships.  In addition to relating items within the same project, you can also relate items across multiple projects that have interdependencies. You just simply navigate to the other project and select the item or multi-select several items that you want to relate and then in a single click, they will show up in your relationships view.

Impact Analysis. With a single click, you can immediately analyze the impact an updated item has on other items - both directly and indirectly based on the relationships you've defined. Not only see what other items are affected but also who on the team is affected.

Impact Analysis

Trace Matrix. You can quickly run a Trace Matrix to assess the traceability relationships between your sets of items such as software requirements and use cases.

Release Planning. Within Contour, you can create product release plans to decide what to build next. Easily map out a release schedule for future iterations, grouping together the related requirements, test cases and other items into each release.

Rich Text Editor. Embed images, tables, audio clips, videos and other rich content within the description of your requirements or other items. We've also included several templates within the editor.

Agile Story Cards & Content Templates. Within the rich text editor, we've included several templates for Agile story cards, use cases and test cases.

Drag and Drop. We've built Contour as a Rich Internet Application that allows you to quickly and easily drag and drop items within the hierarchy you've defined, giving you the flexibility to define requirements or other items once and organize them, or re-organize them, however you want at any time.

Drag and Drop

Filters. Another view Contour offers is filters. As you begin to capture thousands of requirements, test cases, defects and other items within Contour, filters become an increasingly valuable tool to use to hone in on specific lists of items you need. You can create filters for yourself or share them with others.

Version History. Contour offers complete version history of changes. You can view side-by-side comparisons so it's easy to see exactly what changed. No more guesswork. No more digging through revision after revision of a Word document to understand changes.

Email Notifications. Just made a change? Email out an alert (what we call push notifications) to the entire team or a group of users. You can also subscribe to receive updates and comments (what we call pull notifications) for changes related to your work. You can activate email notifications at the project, set or item level and from anywhere within the application.

Dynamic Reporting. Contour includes several pre-defined reports including Baselines, System Requirements Specifications and other documents you can easily create in multiple formats. Also, Contour includes a powerful Report Designer that you can use to build custom reports, or better yet, we'll do it for you. If you anticipate the need for Custom Reports.

Tags. Contour provides several views into your project data to allow you to organize and view it the way you want, including the Tags View based on user-defined keywords and categories. Tags are a great way to organize information in a non-hierarchical way to group items together.

Tabs. Similar to latest web browsers, Contour uses Tabs that open along the top of the application to allow you to have several items open at once and easily work across items, saving you time.
